Egypt executes defrocked monk convicted of abbot’s killing
Middle East today / Sweden / Stockholm: - The 2018 killing of Bishop Epiphanius, an abbot at St. Macarius Monastery, shocked Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church, one of the oldest Christian communities in the world and the one that introduced monasticism to the faith. The monastery was built in the 4th century.

Two defrocked monks, identified as Isaiah and and Faltaous, were convicted of killing Epiphanius and sentenced to death by a criminal court in April 2019. The Court of Cassation,...

Funding: What Is Entrepreneur Capital vs. Venture Capital?
Middle East today / Sweden / Stockholm: After almost two decades spent financing startups and early-stage ventures, it occurred to me that we use many different phrases and concepts without much deeper thought and they become part of the standard lexicon of the founders and investors they work with. Venture Capital, or VC, is more nuanced than one might first think. I started to look through the other end of the telescope and, as an investor, wanted to adopt a more founder-focused perspective to...

Reader question: When will it be possible to travel freely to Sweden from the UK?
Middle East today / Sweden / Stockholm: -In the past year, different sets of rules have applied to the UK. Last year it was treated the same as EU countries during the post-Brexit transition period, so people could mostly travel freely from the UK to Sweden. This variant is now widespread in Sweden, too, so those restrictions...
